Raging wild Rivers. Waterfalls that appear from the sky. A tiny family of fish swimming upstream. Hanalei beach.
Driftwood surf shacks made up on the beach. Coconut trees seeding in the sand. Coral, and washed up sea beans from the Amazon laying in the sand. Barefoot climbing up the tree that hangs over the river mouth. I watch in awe and envy as the children from the Hanalei school finish class, run down the beach barefoot climb up the tree and jump in straight In the river from the mountains.
What a life. What a contrast from the outside world beyond what Hawaiians know as the Garden Island of Kauai. Razor sharp coral reef in the water negotiates where we swim.
Pockets of cold water flash past that come from the river mouth and then a wave of warmth from the Pacific Ocean relieves in from the cold. We spent hours here and time was our friend. Alone, quiet with reflection but most of all a deep rooted connection with nature. I could spend all day here getting back to myself and getting back to nature.
