The customers who asked me to do this love that another already as they are thinking about a second piece to put in their home. Living in the busy London city, I wanted to bring a piece of the Ocean back to them, being that they grew up living near the water.
One of my biggest inspirations is nature itself and being a surfer, I felt that I could convey the Ocean as they asked for. They wanted a combination of stormy waters being engrossed by a calmer wave. I expressed this through colour, movement and texture. Consider it ‘Chaos to Calm.’
It was therapeutic and stress relieving painting this piece and I feel like this is the beginning of a part of my future with other commissions already coming in based on this one that I have done.
I poured my energy love, feelings and thoughts into this painting over the last 4 months. I love it and I think the new owners do too.
I feel like working this way is a real part of my future - here’s to the future....
I change my desktop on my computer probably twice a day and I love putting up new mood boards on the wall to create a fresh vision of inspiration before I work. I start every new project with research so having fresh ideas around me to inspire is of great importance to me.
One of my biggest inspirations nature - hence all the plants and the general theme for home interiors is bringing outdoors indoors. I’m forever happy sat in my jungle drawing as the time passes by. Some of the key plants featured in these places are Aloe Vera, Monstera Deliciosia and a Fern.
As well as changing up my workspace I use these tips to stay productive. Listen to my short podcast and find out how I stay productive. Comment below on the way you stay productive and give this blog post a like if you liked it.
Today we visited the most beautiful home. This property was beach side with a waterfront view and cost around two and a half million pounds. The dream is to have a property by the water one day. It was truly stunning. The light, the space, the architecture, the layout was so well thought out. Take a look.
Between everything from the chaos to the calm, one thing I’m learning is to be authentically me and to stay true. For the longest time I found I was producing work to show the world at times, rather than producing work organically and fluidly. Naturally. As it should be. Expressing a feeling.
From this moment forward, I only choose to produce work organically and naturally. Work that is authentically me. Knowledge over numbers .
This work I did this morning was organic. It was inspiration, and moment in time that I imagined in my mind, that I brought to life. I printed pictures and typed on my vintage old typewriter, only for a moment during my busy day because that’s all I had. But it was exactly what I wanted it to be. Real.
If you are reading this thank you - because you taking the time out to appreciate my art, my photography, my work means more than you know.
i’m not the best with words and don’t tend to say too much. They say a photo speaks a thousand words so hopefully my art and my photography will tell you my story. This is the Journal of Home to Hawaii. Please stay, indulge and see Hawaii through an Artists eyes and through a Designers as lense.
Remember to stay true and be authentically you. Don’t let the media, what you see what you hear change who you are. Just be organically, naturally, authentically you and show the world exactly who you are.
