12/9/2018 0 Comments HAWAII, WAIKIKI - DAY TWOAfter a very long thirty six hours of travelling we finally touched down in Hawaii. A drive up to London that took an hour and a half, followed by an eleven hour flight into LAX, finally with a seven hour flight to Oahu, we made it to paradise. Needless to say, sitting up right in a chair trying to catch any sleep was not easy. We arrived in Waikiki, Oahu and took ourselves out to check out the local breaks along the beach over razor sharp coral reef. With the need for a recharge we headed to Jamba juice and had an açai bowl first thing in the morning. We arrived in Waikiki, Oahu and took ourselves out to check out the local breaks along the beach over razor sharp coral reef. We strolled around pristine streets of Waikiki underneath the towering hotel blocks. The sidewalks are lined with tropical plants, flowers and you are never far from a palm tree, Japanese food, or Hawaiian Poke - Poke being the traditional Hawaiian dish of raw fish. The air is hot and wet. On the 30th floor of our hotel we took a moment to look at the tiny model beach from the top. Everything looked like a tiny toy model from this height. We tend to go to the top floor together to have a look at our surroundings whenever we travel. We headed up to Diamond Head state monument summit trail that overlooks the whole of Waikiki beach. It was really hot, dry and we had to hundreds of steps to walk and had to navigate our way through a tunnel at the top of the summit. The view from the top was incredible. The link Ocean was a beautiful blue. With the city on the left and the rolling clouds over the mountains to the right, this was truly an amazing sight. I met a man surrounded by birds that said he escaped his wife to smoke up the hill.
He gave me some bird seed and many birds all flew onto my arm. It was a moment I will remember forever.
